2011 Steel Market Seminar& Top 100
China Steel Traders Award Ceremony, was solemnly held by SteelHome
website in Maanshan city during October 29-31, 2010. Gu Jianguo, President
and Secretary of Party Commitee under Magang (Group) Holding Company Ltd
and Shen Tianying, Vice Mayor of Maanshan city presented a speech at the
conference. About 600 delegates from steel mills (90), distributing
circles (290), related industries and media attended the conference.
World economy gradually walks out of the
woods in 2010 but the pace differs from country to
country. Advanced economies see a slow recovery while emerging
economices face the risk of overheating. Countries across the globe carry out
different monetary and fiscal policy. US plans to restart quantitative
easing monetary policy to push devaluation of greenback and exchange rate
disputes escalate.
How will world economy develop and monetary
policy change and whether exchange rate and trade war will break out
becomes major factors influencing steel market in 2011. Li Xiangyang,
Director with Institute of Asia-Pacific Studies under Chinese Academy of
Social Sciences, made a speech entitled 2011 World Economic Outlook. Tan
Yaling, Executive Director with China International Economic Relations
Association (CIERA), analyzed global economic trends and financial market
situation in the report Analysis on Current International Financial
Situation and Forecast for 2011.
Chinese economy grew 10.6 percent in the
first three quarters of this year when Europe and America experienced slow
recovery. At the same time, inflation pressure mounts up, economic
restructuring has a long way to go and foreign trade frictions have
increased. How will these problems be solved? Could domestic investment
keep high rate growth under strict real estate control? How much
will foreign trade frictions affect China's exports? How much will ongoing
twelfth five-year plan impact on Chinese economy in the future? Zhu Baoliang,
Deputy Director with Economic Forecast Department under State Information
Center, gave detailed analysis on above issues in the report Chinese
Macroeconomic Situation and Outlook.
Steel mills' operating cost rose sharply
and profits obviously fell as China pushed ahead with control in real
estate sector, efforts on emissions cut increased and global iron ore
price surged up in 2010. Combined with high inventory and broad
participation of steel futures as well as electronic trading platform,
China steel market fluctuated at a low level on the whole.
In face of complicated macro economic
situation both at home and abroad, how to judge the development of steel
market in 2011 and better grasp steel price change at domestic market
becomes a hot issue of steel industry.
Li
Xinchuang, Director of China
Metallurgical Industry Planning and Research Institute, delivered the
speech on major problems facing China steel industry and the development
during “12th five-year”.
Huang Yingjie, General Manager of Hangzhou
Steel Trading Group Limited, gave an speech on Management Innovation of
Steel Enterprises. Delegates from steel mills, distributing circles,
futures companies and logistics took part in the dialogue with the theme
of Steel Price Trend in Q4 and Early 2011.
