Platts has reported that some Japanese and South Korean steel mills have
agreed to increase in prices of coking coal as well as PCI with major
miners for supply in April to June quarter
Two separate reports have outlined following unconfirmed developments
1. Low vol hard coking coal – Up by USD 7 per tonne QoQ as compared to
January to March quarter price of USD 165 per tonne FOB
2. Low vol PCI – USD 141 per tonne FOB up by USD 18 per tonne or 14.5%
QoQ
The report added that "Being between a major producer and consumer,
the new settlement seems likely to be considered a global benchmark for
Q2."
