According to the Ministry of Industry and Commerce of Paraguay, they planned to start a dumping investigation of rebar from Brazil and Argentina. This petition was requested by the local factory Vemarcorp.
In the past few years, the construction industry in Brazil and Argentina has been weak; however, they allocated for steel exports.
According to sources, construction activities in the two countries were expected to increase in 2019.
Rebar imports in Paraguay were carried out through an automated licensing system, which didn't require prior applications.
