city, the steel producing base in China, announced to conduct the heavy
pollution weather II grade emergency response during 12:00 on January 8 to
24:00 on January 14. Details are as follows:

Steel industry
Ranking
as Tier A: sintering mills located outside of urban area (including
country center) are asked to cut 30 percent of production; those within
the urban area (including country center) are to cut 40 percent;
Ranking
as Tier B: sintering mills are asked to cut 50 percent;
Ranking
as Tier C: sintering mills are asked to cut 60 percent;
Ranking
as Tier D: full cutbacks.

Coking industry
Ranking
as Tier A: coking time is asked to prolong to 28 hours;
Ranking
as Tier B and C: coking time is asked to prolong to 36 hours.

Foundry industry
Ranking
as Tier A: not in the list;
Ranking
as Tier B: factories, except for machine-work ones, are to stop
production;
Ranking
as Tier C: to fully stop operation.
