It was reported on 14 December 2018 that signing ceremony of HBIS Group-Philippine Steel Project was held at Philippine Trader and Industry Ministry.
HBIS Group-Philippine Steel Project is located in Mindanao Island, covering 3 square kilometers. HBIS Group joints with Philippine Asia Steel & Metal (ASM), a group engaging in trading of mineral ores (chrome ore, manganese ore, iron ore, nickel ore and other mineral metals), energy product (petroleum coke) and project investment, with 4.4 billion dollars to establish steel corporation enterprise, integrated with port, sintering, coking, pelletizing, ironmaking, steelmaking, rolling and deep processing. The mill can produce 8 million tons steel and iron in one year. It will take 3-5 years to finish the construction.
According to Philippine Commercial News, this project will provide over 20,000 employments.
