Steel Production
In December, China's crude steel production reached 76.12 million tons,
up 8.2% year on year, according to the National Bureau of Statistics
(NBS). The country produced 63.20 million tons of pig iron and 93.65
million tons of finished steel products in December, up 9.4% and up 9.1%
respectively, year on year. From January to December, China produced
crude steel of 928.26 million tons, pig iron of 771.05 million tons and
steel products of 1.10552 billion tons, up 6.6%, 3% and 8.5% separately.
In December, the daily production of crude steel was 2.4555 million
tons, down 5.1% from the daily level in previous month; the daily
production of pig iron and finished steel products was 2.0387 million
tons and 3.021 million tons, respectively, down 4% and down 3.8%
respectively, from the daily level in previous month.
Annualized output of crude steel, pig iron and steel products in
December were 896.25 million tons, 744.13 million tons and 1.10265
billion tons.
Steel Supply
In December, supply of crude steel was 71.30 million tons, up 5.66
million tons or 8.6% from the same period a year ago; that of finished
steel products reached 89.10 million tons, up 7.73 million tons or 9.5%
on annual basis.
The January-December supply of crude steel was 869.46 million tons, up
64.27 million tons or 8% from the same period a year ago; that of
finished steel products reached 1.04935 billion tons, up 92.56 million
tons or 9.7% on annual basis.
