Under the Kore International Trade Association, Korea’s aluminum flat exports increased 20.9 percent in December last year(40,845 metric tons), totaling 49,398 metric tons, or 10.3 percent from the prior month(44,778 metric tons) respectively. Aluminum flat import were 34,819 metric tons, up 62.1 percent from a year ago seen 21,479 metric tons. On the basis of yearly tonnage, exports climbed 10 percent from a year ago(501,922 metric tons) to 552,083 metric tons while import ballooned 48.2 percent from 274,668 metric tons to 407,112 metric tons respectively.
Chinese materials of the total aluminum flat imports accounted for 64.4 percent in 2017 increased up to 75.8 percent last year, totaling 308,408 metric tons of the total import of 407,112 metric tons. The weight of Chinese aluminum flat import of the total import continued to rise from 64.4 percent in 2014, to 69.4 percent in 2015, 53.3 percent in 2016 and finally 64.4 percent in 2017 respectively.
Meanwhile, the second import weight went to the US, followed by Germany and Japan in terms of aluminum flat import terms. The import quantities from the US registered 26,647 metric tons and from Germany and Japan, reported 22,107 metric tons and 11,928 metric tons respectively.
