Korea's aluminum bar and profile export counted to have dropped last year, downsizing 3.2 percent from 33,207 metric tons to 32,155 metric tons under the Korea International Trade Association statistics. On the same calendar basis, the import of aluminum bar and profile showed a sharp increase of 41 percent from 17,913 metric tons a year ago to 25,258 metric tons.
Over December alone last year, the aluminum bar and profile export reduced 5.4 percent from the prior month of 3,100 metric tons leading to 2,934 metric tons and import thereof showed a 17.7 percent slippage from 2,532 metric tons to 2,083 metric tons respectively. Import from China in particular increased sharply by 21.2 percent to 798 metric tons, but exports thereto plummeted 27.2 percent totaling 418 metric tons. Korea’s aluminum bar and profile exports shipped to the US market dampened 27.2 percent to 301 metric tons while imports therefrom also wound down by 49.8 percent to 215 metric tons respectively.
