Hyundai Steel issued its official announcement on February 18 that the company has surpassed a total of 20 million tons of heavy plate production in nine years, as of the 16th February this year, since January 2009 the first and second plate mills came on stream. The production of plate in quantity of 20.0 million tons equates three folds the football ground, or 500 VLCC of 40,000 tons class equivalent. The fruit was achieved in the face of difficult environment like the increasing raw materials price and surged plate imports. Hyundai Steel is known to have focused on the high functional steel products that need high technologies like extreme low temperature steels, API oil country tublar goods and anti-quake steel products.
