According to the Korea International Trade Association, Korea’s import of pure magnesium totaled 1,262 tons in January, 22.5 percent higher than a year ago. Korea’s pure magnesium imports recorded 15,965 metric tons in 2015, 14,418 metric tons in 2016, 14,396 metric tons in 2017 till 12,766 metric tons last year.
Magnesium 100% concentrate exports posted 66 metric tons in 2013, seven tons in 2014, 95 metric tons in 2015, 181 metric tons in 2016 and 170 tons in 2017 till 190 metric tons last year, continuing improvement by 11.8 percent year on year.
For a while latest, magnesium consumption in Korea was replaced with aluminum in the major scope of consuming markets like cellulous phone bracket, by which its consumption continued depressed. Magnesium is recognized as the excellent materials attracting worldwide while being subject to the continuing development on new applicable products.
