Korea’s aluminum scrap showed decline by 7.5 percent in January, totaling 68,706 metric tons according to the Korea International Trade association statistics. To the contrary, aluminum exports surged little better than 65.3 percent to 1,747 metric tons in the same month compared with a year ago posted 1,057 metric tons.
By import source, the largest import quantities went to the US which exported to Korea in the quantity of 19,911 metric tons, while Japan tracing with 7,919 metric tons and Thailand with 6,110 metric tons together with Vietnam 4,385 metric tons respectively.
Meanwhile, import of aluminum scrap from China weakened on account of the country’s export restrictions beginning the coming July this year, as the Environment Ministry announced the import restrictions which will be available from July 1 this year on eight solid waste materials including steel scrap, aluminum scrap and copper scrap are included.
