According to the data from Iranian Steel Producers Association (ISPA), Iran imported around 880,000 tons of finished steel during the 10 months period from March 31st, 2018-January 20th, 2019, down by 53% year on year. Imports of semi-finished steel reached 27,000 tons that included 26,000 tons of billets and 1,000 tons of slabs, down by 59% year-on-year.
Iranian steel imports have been restricted due to its domestic production. In addition, the US has imposed trade sanction against Iran on steel, aluminum, graphite, coal and automotive products that made the imports more difficult.
