Iranian finished steel production grew 8% on-year in the 11 months through 19 February to 19.6 million tonnes, according to Iranian Mines and Mining Industries Development and Renovation Organization (Imidro).
11-month hot rolled flat products output rose 3% to 7.28mt and rebar production was up 24% to 7.1mt. Cold rolled flats production rose 9% to 2.34mt but coated sheet output fell -9% to 1.27mt.
Crude steel output increased 13%, with billet and bloom production at 12.96mt and slab production at 9.74mt.
Iranian direct reduced iron output, meanwhile, grew 19% in the 11 months to 24.3mt.
Major Iranian steelmakers reported a -22% drop in overall steel exports in the 11 months to 5.1mt, driven down by semi-finished products.
According to Iranian Steel Producers’ Association (ISPA) data, rebar is the only finished product to have recorded an increase in apparent consumption in the ten months through 20 January. The slow consumption was offset with a 102% surge in finished product exports to 2.4mt.
