Japan's steel export over February turned out to slow down to 2.31 million tons with a 22.5 percent year to year slippage, according to the Treasury Ministry. The slippage seemed to come from the upstream processing problems at the major steel mills including NSSMC and JFE Steel.
Meanwhile, Japan’s stainless scrap export price picked up to 120,000 yen per ton, as the stainless makers are considering raising their stainless scrap buying offers, TEX Report said. The upbeat was reflective of the LME nickel prices which sustained as much as $13,000 per ton around prior to March and due to Korea’s strong consumption as well.
