It was reported that Esfahan Steel Company (ESCo)'s No. 7 billet continuous casting machine upgrade project has entered the final stage. The upgraded production capacity will increase the annual production capacity of 200,000 tons to 800,000 tons and also improve the quality of billet. The increased production speed could also reduce maintenance costs.
The No. 5 billet continuous casting machine put into operation in 2016 will increase the total production capacity of billet to 3.6 million tons per year.
ESCo also planned to upgrade the No. 8 billet caster before June next year, and restart No. 1 blast furnace to increase pig iron production to 3.6 million tons per year. However, it was currently being shelved due to funding problems.
