I Steel
SteelHome (China) Steel Price Index
(SHCNSI)
was 100.59 points (4,351 yuan) on 16 April 2019, up 0.17 point (8 yuan)
from the previous trading day. Steel price in key markets saw both
stability and hike. Details are as below:
Construction steel:
domestic construction steel in 28 markets averaged price hiked by 13-15
yuan/t. 20mm HRB400 rebar averaged at 4193 yuan per ton, up 15 yuan/t
from previous trading day. Price increased by 10-40 yuan/t in main
markets East China, North China, Northeast China, Southwest China and
Northwest China markets. In Central South China, price was stable except
20 yuan increase in Changsha market.
Medium plate:
20mm Q235B medium plat price averaged at 4160 yuan per ton in 28
domestic markets, up 9 yuan/t from previous trading day. Price hiked by
20-50 yuan/t in Baotou, Xi’an and Lanzhou markets and 100 yuan/t in
Kunming market. The rest was stable.
HRC:
Price slightly fluctuated. 5.75mm Q235B HRC average price was hiked by 9
yuan to 4060 yuan per ton in 28 domestic markets. Price went up by 10-50
yuan/t in Nanjing, Wuxi, Jinan, Lecong, Nanning, Baotou, Changchun,
Chengdu, Kunming and Lanzhou markets, while decreased by 10-30 yuan/t in
Shanghai and Shenyang markets. The rest was stable.
CRC:
average price of 1.0mm SPCC CRC was 4484 yuan per ton in 28 domestic
markets, down 2 yuan/t from previous trading day. Price was stable
except 10-30 yuan reduction in Chongqing and Guiyang markets.

II Raw Materials
On 16 April, Tangshan common billet price was decreased by 20 yuan to
3560 yuan per ton, (cash, tax included, ex-works). Spot products in
Tangshan billet market were priced at 3630 yuan per with flat
transaction. Downstream rolling enterprises are unwilling to accept
resources with high price.
On 16 April, iron ore market saw both stability and hike. SteelHome data
showed that
China Domestic Iron Ore Price Index (SHCNDOI)
65%
was 769 yuan per ton, unchanged and SteelHome Imported Iron Ore Price
Index (SHCNIOI) 62% was 94.08 dollars per
ton, down 0.34 dollar/t from previous day.
Spot ore transacting price saw little change at China ports, For
instance, PB fines trading price was 663 yuan per ton at Qingdao port
and PB fines at Jingtang port were traded at 665 yuan per ton with flat
transactions.
Seaborne iron ore markets were overall slack. Shipments from traders are
dragged down by high price.
