Korea's February output and sale of specialty steel bar products slipped largely from the month before, but had the reverse or far less declined from the year earlier figures. Korea’s specialty steel bar production was 188,875 metric tons in February, down 17.9 percent from January, but expanded 3.9 percent from the year before 181,865 metric tons. Sales volume was down 18.5 percent month on month to 188,850 metric tons from January of 231,676 metric tons, while declined 0.8 percent a year ago. Of which domestic sales totaled 144,545 metric tons, down 22.2 percent from 185,785 metric tons the month before, or down 3.8 percent from a year earlier figure of 150,328 metric tons.
Export demand declined 3.5 percent from 45,891 metric tons to 44,305 metric tons, month to month, but amplified 10.8 percent from the year before, 39,994 metric tons. Stainless bar and alloy steel bar products saw decline in exports from January, but increased above twice those of the year before. Specialty steel bar stock depleted 0.5 percent to 324,555 metric tons from January of 326,126 metric tons, but rose 19.8 percent a year ago stayed at 270,942 metric tons.
