The report from the US Congressional Research Service (CRS) showed that Indian steel export value to the US dropped by 49% year on year in 2018 to US$370 million roughly, while the export value of aluminum grew by 58% year on year to around US$220 million in 2018.
In the same year, the US’ import value to steel and aluminum reached US$29.5 billion and US$17.6 billion respectively.
It was understood from the report that the US’ import value and amount of steel products showed a great fluctuation in the past few decades, while those of aluminum products have been kept growing.
