POSCO's first quarter stainless performance reduced ensuing lower weight in its revenues on sale of the entire steel business division. The first quarter stainless sales contracted overseas while slipped by two-digit percentage in particular. The stainless product turnover was down too, due to the weakened prices as well as the faltered demand at home.
For the first quarter, POSCO produced a total of 654,000 tons stainless products, down 31.9 percent from the same period of 2017, posted 961,000 tons. In this period, stainless sales amount was 2,420 billion won, down 4.4 percent from 2,530.8 billion won, while over the first quarter this year, domestic sales reduced 15.4 percent to 511.1 billion won and overseas sales cut by 0.9 percent to 1,908.9 billion won respectively.
POSCO's stainless sale in the first quarter this year weighed 19.3 percent of the total steel division sales, down 0.6%0 from a year ago. Except the intra business, the stainless revenue on sale weighs 30.0 percent, down 1.5%p from the previous year’s figure of 31.5 percent.
Meanwhile, POSCO’s first quarter stainless raw materials cost 1,302.6 billion won, down 3.6 percent a year ago, while its weight of the entire steelmaking raw materials purchase amount was 19.1 percent, down 1.9%p respectively.
