As per statistics from the General Administration of Customs, China
exported 5.743 million tons of steel products in May 2019, down 1.14
million tons or 16.6% year on year; imports in May were 982,000 tons,
down 152,000 tons or 13.4% year on year. The
cumulative steel exports in the first five months of 2019 were 29.093
million tons, increasing 699,000 tons or 2.5% year on year. The
cumulative steel imports in the first five months of 2019 were 4.878
million tons, down 752,000 tons or 13.4% year on year.
