In the morning of June 16th, a 7.2-magnitude earthquake occurred in the Kermadec Islands, New Zealand. The focal depth of the earthquake was only 34 kilometers, which was a shallow earthquake. Everyone worried that it would cause a tsunami. So far, there had been no impact on the transportation of iron ore near Australia.
Even if there was a tsunami threat, the impact on Australia was not significant as most of Australia's major iron ore ports were concentrated on the other side rather than on the side of New Zealand. Therefore, the iron ore transport at Australian ports was temporarily unaffected.
