National Mineral Development Corporation (NMDC) has two iron ore districts in Chhattisgarh, which account for 80% of NMDC's total capacity. The two mines stopped production last Friday (June 14th) as the tribe struck for six days.
The tribe has been protesting mining leases because the hill was religious to them.
The chairman and general manager of NMDC said that the strike was aimed at the development of a new mine, but the strike has seriously affected the operation of the existing mine.
At the end of the strike, NMDC has resumed operations in two mining areas in Chhattisgarh.
