Provisional
data reported to the ILZSG indicate that world refined lead metal demand
exceeded supply by 39kt during the first four months of 2019. Over the
same period total reported stock levels decreased by 21kt.
l
A
growth of 0.7% in global lead mine production was primarily a consequence
of rises in India, Peru and Sweden, that were partially balanced by a
reduction in China.
l
A
2.3% increase in global lead metal production was mainly a result of
higher output in China, India and the Republic of Korea. Production
remained stable in Europe, Japan and the United States.
l
Refined
global lead metal usage rose by 2.3%, influenced by rises in China and
India. In Europe, Japan, the Republic of Korea and the United States,
usage was lower compared to the first four months of 2018.
l
Chinese
imports of lead contained in lead concentrates increased by 30.7% to
260kt. Net imports of refined lead metal totalled 67kt compared to net
exports of 13kt over the same period of 2018.
