remarkable results in the context of slowing global economy: GDP in the
first 6 months reached 6.76%, lower than the same period last year
(7.05%); GDP in the second quarter of 2019 grew 6.71%, only slightly
decreased.

The situation of import and export of steel products in May 2019:
Import situation:
- At the end of May 31, 2019, import of finished steel products and
semi-finished products of all kinds reached more than 8 million tons,
with a total import turnover of more than 4.8 billion USD.
- In the first 5 months of 2019, the import of finished steel products
was more than 6.2 million tons, of which the import of some steel
products increased highly over the same period as:
+ Steel wire: 121,412 tons, up 16.1%;
+ Shaped steel: 134,258 tons, up 55.7%;
- Top 5 countries supplying steel to Vietnam are China, Japan, Korea,
Taiwan and India respectively

Export situation:
- As of May 31, 2019, Vietnam exported more than 3.46 million tons of
finished and semi-finished steel products, an increase of 14% in volume
over the same period in 2018. Total export turnover 5 the first month of
2019 reached more than 2.25 billion USD. In particular, export of some
steel products with advantages of Vietnam decreased as:
- Galvanized steel KL & SPM: down 17.1%;
- Steel pipe: down 14.1%;
- Cold rolled steel: down 2.3% |
