The production figure also dipped 10.8 percent from 48,269 tons to 43,078 tons, while Korean sales downed 9.7 percent from 36,944 tons to 33,352 tons and export demand slid 2.9 percent from 9,769 tons to 9,485 tons a year ago respectively.
The overall market instability is pulling down the figures of casting steel products, but there are chances for export to turn up ahead contributing to the improved performance this year, the industry people said.
Meanwhile, May’s entire sale of casting steel products was down 5.7 percent a year ago from 9,146 tons to 8,625 tons. Production in May too decreased 12.8 percent from 9,714 tons to 8,472 tons while sales volume dropped 12.5 percent from 7,323 tons to 6,405 tons respectively. Korean consumption was 6,405 tons which accounted for a 12.5 percent drop from 7,323 tons, but export surged 21.8 percent from 1,823 tons to 2,220 tons.
