According to statistics from Iranian Steel Producers Association (ISPA), in the first 3 months of the current Iranian year (from March 21st to June 21st), Iranian finished steel production totaled around 5.3 million tons, up by 16% compared to the same period a year ago.
The production of hot-rolled coil has a year-on-year increase of 9% to around 2.3 million tons; that of section steel had a year-on-year increase of 22% to 300,000 tons roughly; that of cold-rolled coil had a year-on-year increase of 15% to 650,000 tons.
In addition, the production of semi-finished steel products hiked by 5% year on year to around 6.6 million tons in the same period, including 3.9 million tons of billet and 2.7 million tons of slab, rising by 17% and dropping by 8% year on year respectively.
The increased production was supported by the growth in demand and consumption in the domestic market.
