Vale informs that it has decided on this date to temporarily halt the operation of the Viga concentration plant of Ferrous Resources do Brasil, whose acquisition was announced on August 1st, 2019, as it identified an inconsistency in the documents related to the operation permit from the municipality of Jeceaba. The operations at the Viga mine are not affected by this decision and will continue as usual.
Vale emphasizes that Ferrous complies with all the requirements for the issuance of the operation permit and that it shall resume its full operations when the documentation is deemed appropriate. The operation permit bears no relation to the safety of the tailings dam or the Ferrous operations.
The estimated impact of the temporary halting of Ferrous operations is approximately 330 thousand ton of iron ore production per month.
