Haoji Railway (Menghua Railway), China's largest heavy-haul coal freight railway, will be opened to traffic on September 24.
Haoji Railway starts from Ordos, Inner Mongolia, and ends at the Ji’an station of Jiangxi province. The total length of the railway is 1,837 kilometers, passing through 7 provinces. This railway will pass through the main coal production areas such as Shanxi, Shaanxi and Inner Mongolia, as well as Hubei, Hunan and Jiangxi Province where coal supply is the scarcest.
The planned transportation capacity of the railway is 200 million tons per year. After the completion of the project, it will be beneficial to construct a new channel for the “North Coal Transport to the South” in China, improve the layout of the road network, and ensure energy supply.
