It was reported, ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih, the subsidiary of ArcelorMittal in Ukraine, began to upgrade its light-section mill 250-4 in early 2019, costing about US$50 million.
Through the gradual upgrade process, the output of rebar made by casting billet was expected to increase, which would help to improve production efficiency, reduce costs, improve steel quality, and expand production capacity. In addition, reduced energy use would also reduce emissions of major pollutants by 131 tons per year.
After the completion of the modernization upgrade, the annual steel capacity of the plant would increase by 30% to 1.04 million tons.
