As financial markets plunged on the spread of the coronavirus, the most-actively traded iron ore futures on Dalian Commodity Exchange dropped.

“We have started purchasing iron ore on the spot market as Rio Tinto delayed shipments of some products after Tropical Cyclone Claudia hit,” said some Chinese steelmakers.
