According to Customs, China imported 87.026 million tonnes of iron ore
in May, with a rise of 3.276 million tonnes or up 3.9 percent from the
one in the same month last year. Daily import decreased by 12 percent
month-on-month.
Average import price was 87.44 dollars per tonne, with a drop of 1.86
dollars per tonne from the one in the last month.
Cumulative imports in the five months totaled at 445.306 million tonnes,
with an increase of 21.568 million tonnes or up 5.1 percent
year-on-year. Average import price was 89.98 dollars per tonne, with a
rise of 2.87 dollars per tonne from the one in the same month last year.
