ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel (AMNS) India announced major investment at Hazira steel plant in the state of Gujarat, India, which it acquired from Essar Steel. The proposed expansion will significantly boost the plant’s capacity.
According to company press release, it plans to make a total investment of Rs. 25,000 crore. Initially, it plans an investment of Rs. 5,000 crore, in order to take the plant’s capacity to 8.6 million tonnes per annum (mtpa) by the end of 2024. In the next phase, it proposes to make additional investment of Rs. 20,000 crore. Further, he announced that AMNS facilities have returned to 100% capacity following the recent reduced operating schedule on account of the pandemic situation.
