China's capital Beijing's regional gross domestic product realized 1.6 trillion yuan($230 billion) for the first half of this year, a 3.2 percent drop compared with the same period last year with comparable prices, the municipality's Statistics Bureau said on Monday.
The city's GDP in the first half in 2019 was 1.5 trillion yuan, which marked 6.3 percent growth year-on-year.
The COVID-19 epidemic has boosted online economies in education, medical and sports services, so the internet and related companies in Beijing had 13.2-percent revenue growth for the first five months compared with the same period last year.
