According to the report, German steelmaker ThyssenKrupp announced that it will invest in the construction of a walking beam furnace for the No. 2 hot rolling mill in its Beeckerwerth plant in Duisburg to meet the Steel Strategy 20-30 high-quality steel sheet surface requirements.
Steel Strategy 20-30 is aimed at the future market and profitable steel grades to promote the optimization of the production network and the consistency of product portfolio positioning.
Dr. Arnd Köfler, Chief Technology Officer (CTO) of ThyssenKrupp, said that the new walking beam furnace enabled the company to ensure its competitiveness by improving product quality and to meet the needs of automotive customers for surface quality.
