Yulin, home to rich minerals at the northernmost of Shaanxi, has 3 kinds of mineral resources at world-class reserves. Its underground fortune averages 1 billion yuan per square kilometer, with 40.6 trillion yuan of potential value, accounting for 95% of Shaanxi province.

Explored minerals post 15 kinds, of which coal, oil, gas and halite take respectively for 86.2%, 43.4%, 99.9% and 100% of Shaanxi. Under a square kilometer, there are 6.22mn t of coal, 14,000 t of oil, 100mn cubic meters of gas and 14,000 t of halite. Such a great mix is rare both at home and abroad.

Coal reserves in Yunlin is expected at 280bn t, of which the explored ones are 150bn t. 54% of Yulin contains underground coal, accounting for one fifth of national total.

Jurassic coal yard, a leading role in Yulin, has proved coal of 138.8bn t, 95.7% of Yulin’s total explored coal.

They are charactered by shallow burial and easy mining, with maximum thickness of single layer at 12.5m.

This coal is mainly jet coal, non-caking coal and weakly caking coal with ultralow ash (7-9%), sulfur (<1%), phosphorous (0.006%-0.35%), medium to high calorific value (28.470-34.330mj/kg), a great source of domestic energy coal and chemical coal.

Jurassic coal field spreads over six counties, they are: Yuyang, Shenmu, Fugu, Jingbian, Dingbian and Hengshan.

Carboniferous - Permian coalfield has precious coking coal and rich gas coal in two counties, Wubao and Fugu. Its proved reserves are at 5.474bn t with thickness of single layer at 15.47m.

In addition, gas reserves of Yulin are expected at 4.18 trillion cubic meters with explored at 1.18 trillion cubic meters.

Halite: expected reserves are 6 trillion tons, 26% of total quantity; explored reserves are 885.4bn t, mainly in Yulin, Mizhi, Suide, Jiaxian and Wubao.

Lake salt: expected volume is 60mn t and explored reserves is 3.3mn t.

Furthermore, Yulin is also rich in kaolin, bauxite, limestone and quartz sand.
