ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel India (the former Essar Steel) is now going through a transformation for its product portfolio. One of the biggest changes for the company will be diversifying into making long steel that is used in the construction and infrastructure industries.
Dilip Oommen, CEO of ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel India, confirmed his company is having a talk with state governments to purchase land and to set up a new facility.
Currently, the company’s facility in Hazira, Gujarat is one of the biggest standalone units in the world that produce flat steel with 10 million tons of annual capacity.
The company announced that it planned to increase the ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel India's annual production capacity to 12-15 million tons in the long term.
