According to statistics, South Korea imported a total of around 320,000 tons of scrap in September, dropping by 24.8% compared to the same month a year ago, while hiking by 12.6% from August, which was the first month-on-month increase in three months.
Among them, the imports from Japan accounted for the largest proportion, totaling roughly 250,000 tons, a year-on-year decrease of 15.5%, followed by Russia and the US, with a separate volume of around 40,000 tons and 10,000 tons.
In the first nine months of this year, South Korea’s scrap imports amounted to approximately 3.32 million tons, dropping by 33.6% year on year.
