According to statistics from the US Department of Commerce (USDOC), the US exported approximately 596,000 tons of steel products in September, rising by 17.2% from the previous month and 5.1% from the same period a year ago. The export value was around US$718 million, compared to US$647 million a month ago and US$798 million in September last year.
Among them, Canada was the largest destination with roughly 264,000 tons, increasing by 10.1% month on month and 0.1% year on year. The other major destinations included Mexico (about 249,000 tons, China (about 18,000 tons), Ecuador (about 6,300 tons).
In September, the US exported around 103,000 tons of hot-dip galvanized steel, 68,000 tons of cut-to-length steel plate, 58,000 tons of HRC, and 42,000 tons of CRC.
