According to the report, Liberty Steel, a global steel and mining company in more than 200 locations on four continents, has announced that it would install Europe's first hybrid steel furnace at their Liberty Ostrava plant in the Czech Republic.
Liberty Steel planned to replace four tandem steel furnaces with two hybrid steel furnaces by 2023, which could reduce carbon emissions by 50%.
S. Gupta, the chairman of Liberty Steel Group, said that it was an important step for the transformation of Liberty Ostrava. The new furnaces would significantly reduce the plant's carbon emissions, which would be a big step towards green steel production.
