It was reported that the Indian government has revised its Domestically Manufactured Iron & Steel Products (DMI&SP) Policy, stipulating that the government¡¯s project must give priority to purchasing domestic steel products.
According to the amendment, any government¡¯s project with a steel purchase of over 500,000 rupees will give priority to domestic steel. In order to make the policy more stringent, the latest amendment stipulates that steel purchases cannot be made in batches.
However, the amendment does not apply to the steel procurement tenders or tender announcements that have been announced before.
