According to reports, the US' hot-rolled coil (HRC) prices hit a record high in 12 and a half years. At present, a number of HRC were promptly sold at high prices. Some market participants estimated that the shortage of these products will be maintained for two months, and this situation will continue into the second quarter.
In addition, the cheap imported HRC was expected to arrive in the US in the second half of the year. Automobile industries and household appliances purchased a limited number of domestic HRC, and there were no surplus products that could provide national defense and public construction, which were unable to use imported goods due to legal restrictions of Section 232.
