Emirates Steel Industries (ESI), a UAE steel manufacturer, is advancing the third phase of its hot-rolled coil (HRC) production expansion plan. The plan was delayed for many years due to a shortage of natural gas.
The company is currently conducting a comprehensive evaluation of this plan to increase its crude steel production capacity to more than 5 million tons per year.
Saeed Al Remeithi, CEO of ESI, indicated that after the evaluation, ESI will plan to expand its assets and operations in response to the growing demand for HRC and flat products in markets.
The launch of HRC products as part of the growth plan was to maximize its contribution to the UAE industrial sector. The expansion plan was also in line with the goal of "The Abu Dhabi Economic Vision 2030," which increased competitiveness through diversification and provided end-users with domestically produced flat products.
