In February, aluminum foil import from China accounted for 88.2 percent of the total import according to the Korea International Trade Association. The entire aluminum foil imports totaled 4,727 tons, down 5.4 percent from a year ago, 4,995 metric tons, while exports decreased 10.9 percent from 5955 tons to 5,303 tons in February.
Chinese aluminum foil imports share shed from 90.4 percent in 2018 to 88.2 percent this February, accounting for 4,121 tons of the total import of 4,727 tons. Aluminum import from China posted 32,055 tons in 2015, 40,243 tons in 2016 and 49,152 tons in 2017 while totaled 63,729 tons last year.
Meanwhile, the second largest import source of aluminum foils went to Germany from which an import was 212 tons, followed by Japan with 183 tons, and Malaysia 55 tons respectively. The import share of Germany-made aluminum foils was 3.9 percent while Japanese import 3.5 percent and Malaysian import 1.2 percent each.
