Central China's Henan province registered a yearly growth of
17.9% in power consumption to 88.51 TWh in the first quarter.
Among all sectors, high-tech manufacturing, equipment
manufacturing, consumer goods manufacturing and new energy
vehicles are among the top of the list in terms of power
consumption.
Power consumption of the province from January to March
increased 17.9%, 19.9% and 16.2% respectively compared with the
year-ago levels. It has maintained double-digit growth for seven
straight months since September 2020.
Power consumed by high-tech manufacturing and equipment
manufacturing surged 78.3% to 4.53 TWh in the first quarter,
44.2 percentage points higher than the province's average. Power
consumed by general equipment manufacturing, automobile
manufacturing, electrical machinery and electronic equipment
manufacturing increased 101.5%, 84.8% 115.3% and 120.7%
respectively during the first quarter.
Consumer goods manufacturing saw a 45.6% year-on-year increase
in power consumption to 5.47 TWh in the first quarter.
Specifically power consumption in food, textile and furniture
manufacturing industries increased 43.7%, 59.4% and 21.4% year
on year respectively.
The expansion of new energy vehicle and digital economy pushed
up power consumption in the first quarter, with that in battery
charging and Internet & Data Service rising 411% and 83.8% from
the year before.
