Coke enterprises in Shanxi province are requested to realize ultra-low emissions by the end of October 2023, according to an implementation plan issued by the province lately.
One to two major coke enterprises in key coke-making cities including Taiyuan, Changzhi, Jinzhong, Luliang, Linfen and Yuncheng are encouraged to be ultra-low emission enterprises by the end of October 2021.
Cokemakers in Taiyuan and 30 neighboring cities and counties need to meet ultra-low emission standards by the end of October 2022, the plan said.
Some cities in the province tightened environmental inspections over coke production and continued to eliminate inefficient coke ovens in April, leading to lower coke production and tighter supply-demand fundamentals.
Coke prices increased by three straight rounds of totaling 300 yuan/t last month, and are likely on track for its fourth increase in early May.
