According to the latest statistics, Japan’s scrap exports totaled around 8.57 million tons in the fiscal year 2021 (April 2020 to March 2021), hiking by 6.72% compared to the previous year.
Among them, the exports to Vietnam accounted for the largest proportion, totaling roughly 3.24 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 24.6%; followed by South Korea’s 2.6 million tons, a year-on-year drop of 25.7%. Taiwan and Bangladesh ranked third and fourth, with a separate volume of 950,000 tons and 800,000 tons.
Japan’s scrap export volume was expected to increase further due to China's potentiality of purchasing.
