China Steel Scrap Industry Development Plan in 2021-2025 was passed in the China Association of Metal Scrap Utilization (CAMU) Member’s meeting on Wednesday. The Development Plan mentioned that above 30 percent of the crude steel output in the steel production industry stemmed from recycled steel scrap should be achieved in in late 14th Five-Year Plan period (2021-2025).
For domestic scrap processing companies, their annual capacity should climb to 200 million tonnes. The plan also suggests the tax rebate for qualified companies should improve from current 30% to 70%.
For imported scrap, the plan suggest China should encourage domestic companies to set up processing bases overseas, improving strategic reserves of iron content products.
