According to the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK), Turkey imported around 4.6 million tons of hot-rolled coils (HRC) in the first 11 months of 2021, rising by 40.7% compared to the same period a year ago. The import value during the period totaled roughly US$3.8 billion, a year-on-year increase of nearly 160%.
Among them, the top three import sources were Russia (around 1.85 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 71.3%), Ukraine (around 985,400 tons, a year-on-year hike of 71.4%), and India (around 614,700 tons).
In November alone, Turkey's HRC imports totaled approximately 421,800 tons, down by nearly 4% month on month and up by nearly 49% year on year. The import value was around US$391.1 million, a month-on-month decline of 8.7% and a year-on-year surge of 167%.
