Steel Mill Newsflash: Taihang Steel (previously Mingfang Steel) is planning to start building a 1200m3 blast furnace (production capacity of 1.13 million tons) and a 100-ton converter (production capacity of 1.15 million tons) in January, 2022, which are expected to put into production in January, 2023. The new production capacity comes from capacity swap of blast furnaces of Xinshan Steel and Xingtai Steel, as well as basic oxygen furnaces of Mingfang Steel, Xinshan Steel, Xingtai Steel and Hongrong Steel, at the rate of 1.4:1 and 1.3:1 respectively.
