In the first two months of this year, Turkey's billet and bloom imports reached approximately 315,600 tons, sliding by 45.7% year on year. The import value was down by 31% year on year to US$216 million.
Among them, the top three import sources were Russia (around 145,800 tons, a year-on-year decrease of 53.7%), Ukraine (around 84,800 tons, a year-on-year reduction of 38.4%), and Oman (around 20,600 tons, a year-on-year drop of 45%).
According to the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK), Turkey imported around 152,900 tons of billet and bloom in February this year, dropping by 6% compared to the previous month and also falling by 63% from the same month a year ago.
During the period, the import value totaled roughly US$104.6 million, a month-on-month drop of 6% and a year-on-year decrease of 53%.
